Sizdah Be-dar is celebrated on the thirteenth day of Nowruz, the Iranian New Year. It is celebrated by leaving houses to join nature, and spending the day outdoors.
A fun family day to picnic and enjoy the great outdoors. Lots of wonderful food, music and dancing and PoCo Heritage Trees was pleased to be a part of the festivities. Our volunteers helped make pipe cleaner bees, cherry blossom art and demonstrated how to plant sunflowers, peas and beans so kids could take them home and watch them grow.
Join us under the canopy of “The Secret Life of Trees” exhibit indoor forest on March 28th at 6:30 – 8:30 pm. This will be our final co-hosted event with the museum before the exhibit closes on April 27th.
We will be screening the BBC documentary, “Oak Tree: Nature’s Greatest Survivor”. George McGavin investigates the dramatic life of a 400 year old oak tree – a species that makes extraordinary transformations as it meets the challenges of the four seasons.
